Understand why pain is happening. Build confidence in movement.

Specialist assessment-led rehabilitation and treatment at Newquay Injury Hub, helping people move better, recover well and stay active long term.
Led by Rachael Storr-Meddings MSc, MSST — Senior Sports Therapist with 20+ years’ experience in clinical practice, teaching and performance environments.

More than treatment

Some people want treatment.

Others want a clearer understanding of why symptoms developed and a structured route forward.

Appointments combine assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and education to help build confidence and long-term movement capacity.

Understand the bigger picture before treatment.

Every appointment begins with understanding symptoms, movement and contributing factors to identify what may be driving the issue—not just where it hurts.

Assessment First

Support long-term movement and training capacity.

Treatment goes beyond symptom relief, with rehabilitation and practical guidance designed to help you move well and stay active.

Targeted treatment and rehabilitation informed by clinical reasoning.

Treatment is selected based on findings and may include hands-on therapy, movement strategies and rehabilitation to support meaningful change.

Treatment With Purpose
Rebuild & Perform

Rachael is outstanding. I am 72 and exercise vigorously both in organised classes and at home. At times, I overextend parts of my body and her ability to untangle me (break up scar and inflamed tissue) has been a revelation.

I have consulted Rachael about a number of problems over several years. I am always impressed by her professionalism, her knowledge, her communication and her exceptional ability to logically and progressively investigate the source of a problem and to then apply various techniques to relieve and eradicate pain and discomfort. She then provides realistic rehabilitation exercise to avoid recurrence.

Diagnosis, Treatment, Rehabilitation

Specialising in Musculoskeletal Injuries: muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints

Enhancing Pain-free Movement

It's very common for people to accept their aches, pains, and restrictions as just part of their sport or the aging process, frequently purchasing supports and adapting their movement. If you think this describes your situation, feel free to get in touch or book so this pattern can be interrupted and resolved.

Move Better, Move Pain-free

Not all injuries start with sudden pain, quite often there is a tightness or a restriction in movement. The body adapts to these stressors causing imbalances and ultimately causing pain. Feel free to get in contact to discuss an issue that you're unsure about. The sooner treatment and rehab begins, the quicker the resolve.

Treatment Techniques

It can be very daunting putting your trust in a practitioner when you're in pain. Rest assured, the assessment and treatment process can be as gentle as you wish.

Spinal and Peripheral Mobilisations (limb joints)

Gentle but effective mobilisations and tractions (stretching joints) are used to treat joint tissue such as ligaments, cartilage and meniscus. Correcting joint mechanics and lubricating joint capsules.

Gentle and innervating neural techniques are used to remedy damaged, irritated and 'trapped' nerves, preventing permanent damage.

Soft Tissue Therapy

Specific massage techniques, frictions, tissue mobilisation, stripping, IASTM - instrument assisted techniques, are used to manipulate muscle tissue and tendons, breaking down scar tissue (adhesions and knots) and promoting optimal healing.

Neural Glides for Nerve Issues
Kinesio Taping and Athletic Taping

K-Taping has been proven effective for reducing inflammation and bruising, innovating or inhibiting specific muscles to improve performance. Athletic taping is typically used to restrict movement at a joint to protect ligaments such as with an ankle or wrist sprain.

Professional Rehabilitation

Achievable for all levels even if you don't tend to exercise you will be prescribed what is specific to your needs and ability. Your exercises will be easy to follow and track via professional software accessed on your phone or computer.

Electrotherapy - Ultrasound and Interferential

Effective for pain relief, optimisation of issue healing, and to relieve muscle spasms.

I have seen Rachael on and off for several years. I cannot begin to say how fantastic she is at getting to the root of the problem whether it’s my back or my legs or both. She recommended a great regime of rehab exercises which really help. The treatments have always been effective, and she always goes the extra mile. Rachael is very personable and treats her patients with respect and kindness. I can’t recommend her strongly enough!

Rachael treated me for a very nasty trapped nerve in my neck earlier this year. I was unable to use my left arm and was in excruciating pain. I was unable to work, couldn’t sleep or drive and was struggling with the simplest personal care tasks. Rachael was nothing short of amazing and was quickly able to assess me and start appropriate treatment both hands on and exercises to do at home. I was able to significantly reduce my pain meds after two weeks and she had me pain free after 5 sessions. She is a lovely person and it was great being treated by her. I would not hesitate to recommend her to others!

Common Injuries

Injuries can present with pain, stiffness, weakness or loss of function. Here are some common injuries that can be resolved with treatment and rehabilitation

Muscle & Tendon Strains, Ligament Sprains

Tennis elbow, Golfers elbow, Achilles tendinopathy, Patella tendinitis, Patellofemoral pain, Plantar Fasciitis, Rotator Cuff pain etc. are commonly caused by overuse and faulty mechanics.

Tendinopathies, Tendinitis, Bursitis, Impingement

Mechanisms of injury usually involve a sudden overstretch or overload of the structure causing a tear.

Meniscus, ITB friction syndrome, weak core, Sacroiliac Joint pain, Lower Back Pain, shoulder aches and weakness are often caused by muscular imbalances or trauma.

Joint Stiffness, Dyskinesis, Malalignment

Rachael helped me since I had an accident which damaged a tendon in the rotator cuff of my left shoulder. Rachael had diagnosed this before the result of my MRI scan.

...whilst treating me for this Rachael has treated damage to my lower back which I injured sometime ago.

The lower back pain had made me feel very down at times, I now feel like a new person as the lower back pain is gone.

I cannot thank Rachael enough for her help and would recommend Rachael to anyone who has similar problems, I find her easy to talk to and very understanding.
